Our storefront “retail” operations have resumed with walk-up window service. Pies, tarts, and Swingles to go, limonada, hot and iced coffee. Now, 7-days a week. Sunday through Thursday 12:00 till 7:00 PM, Friday and Saturday 12:00 till 8:00 PM. If you do come for a pie, we ask that you wear your mask and observe safe-distancing. Your support is appreciated.
As we’ve mentioned before, we have partnered with a few others who are doing outreach to feed frontline first-responders; EMS, doctors and nurses, hospital support staff. We’re also doing what we call “Pie-Bombing” at unexpected locations. Police, EMS, fire-houses, sanitation workers. At this time we’re not planning on starting a fundraising campaign, but we are encouraging folks to support us by supporting their local heroes. For those in NYC, you can show your support by purchasing a gift certificate for your own personal “hero.” These purchases help us defer our expenses and fuel our outreach efforts.
Prices at $11.00 (two tarts) $22.00 (8-inch pie) $35.00 (10-inch pie) or pick your amount.
Other groups continue to raise funds to keep medical staff with delivered meals. We encourage you to visit these listed below. Believe us, we understand finances are crushed right now, but any support will help.
Meals for Medical Workers are supplying meals as much as they can. They have a small war chest and have managed 100 meals a day to over 10 different units at Maimonides Medical Center, NYU Langone Health, and Mount Sinai Hospital. We partnered with them through our association with Barbalu, who we know through our kids attending school together.
Brooklyn Unites for SUNY Downstate is also feeding the frontline. While we’re not doing any direct supplying to them (we hope to) we’re impressed with the outreach they’re providing to the likes of SUNY Downstate (University Hospital of Brooklyn), Kings County Hospital, along with SUNY Bay Ridge.
Meals for Brooklyn Healthcare Heroes took an idea and is doing a phenomenal job of supporting local hospital staff on the front lines. They began when Jessica Fields wanted to support her local Park Slope NY Presbyterian-Methodist Hospital, and now are delivering meals to and Maimonides, Kings County, and SUNY Downstate.
Brooklyn for Life! We just discovered this group today, headed by actor Jeffery Wright. With an extensive list of hospital and FDNY EMS as recipients, they’re doing an amazing job of providing meals while providing support to local businesses. We hope to hear from them, and we also encourage your support.
We remind you that, we were so close to dropping off three test shipments on Monday (March 30th) to see how they survive one and two-day shipping. The “stay at home” lockdown and technical issues with our planned partners put that to an abrupt halt. We’re hoping to make an announcement as soon as the pieces connect, to finally offer to ship to your home. 10-inch pies and Swingles.
We know a lot of you have been waiting for this, for years! Not to sound unappreciative (we definitely are) but If you are ready to order, we ask that you not email us, but instead sign up for our mailing list, give a follow on Instagram @stevesauthentic or our Facebook page. Believe us, we’ll let you know. Shipping our pies is paramount in our adaptation to the new world we’re living in.
Lastly, we wish everyone a safe passage through this public health crisis. Use safe practices and take care of yourselves and your loved ones. We’ll see through this.
